JESS+JEROME, ENGAGED! BUTTONWOOD FARM |GRISWOLD, CT
Both Jess and Jerome are talented video editors at ESPN and after a few times of hanging out with mutual friends, Jerome finally asked out the girl he thought was cool and nice and obviously cute. Their connection was instant. As they spend the holidays with family last year, Jerome asked Jess to be his wife!
As Jess and I discussed possible dates for their engagement session, I had a bright idea involving a lot of sunflowers. So I asked if she’s heard of the sunflower festival. She excitedly flipped through her calendar because she had written the exact dates of the festival at Buttonwood Farm! She missed it last year so she made sure to mark it on her calendar, ensuring she doesn’t miss it this year. So fast forward to our session. It was hot and humid and since none of us had ever been to the sunflower farm, we didn’t know what to expect, bug-wise–there were plenty of bumble bees, which I feared. I am afraid of anything that sting, as if I’ve been stung before. I’ve never been stung and I would like to keep it that way–forever. No matter, Jess and Jerome proved to be troopers! We were sweaty and uncomfortable, the sun peaked through grey clouds once or twice (thank goodness), and since it had rained the night before, there were definitely sloshy parts all over the farm. We braved the conditions and they both rocked it out, sweaty noses and foreheads and all. They laughed, poked fun of each other’s silliness, and wiped sweat off each other’s brows, and face, and necks.
I had such a great time hanging out with Jess and Jerome. I cannot wait for their wedding next year! Their laughter is infectious. I couldn’t help but smile as I edited their session. Check out a few of my favorites–I’m sure they’ll make you smile.
